Our history

Nehemiah's Vision, Inc. (NEVI) is a tax-exempt organization committed to the belief that high performing schools are at the heart of every stable and thriving community. Local school performance impacts house values, local commerce, community safety and local government resources positively when they produce high school graduates prepared for post-secondary education or the workforce but become an economic burden to the community and local government when they do not. Conversely, we acknowledge that schools are faced with numerous out-of-school factors that adversely impact student achievement and thus the solutions for improving school services cannot be achieved only within the confines of the school campus. It takes a concerted effort from all education stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, administrators, community leaders, clergy, business, and elected officials) working as partners and committed to fulfilling their role in rebuilding our schools. That is why NEVI offers parents/guardians of students PreK-12 training and support that empowers them to take control of the education outcomes for their children. Our strategies for building effective parental support are rooted in the Comer process where we embrace the belief that all decisions must be made in the best interest of children. Additionally, we are committed to promoting the idea that when students feel supported and nurtured in school, their outlook, life skills and academic performance will improve. We work in tandem with local schools that recognize that parental involvement is pivotal in ensuring that students benefit from the curriculum that is taught.
