Dr. Amber Loftin is a recipient of the George's County 40 under 40 recipient and 2018 Educator Serving the Community Award. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Livingstone College, and Master’s in Mathematics and Doctorate in Education.
During her high school and college years, she worked tirelessly as a community volunteer tutoring at-risk youth and her peers in Reading, Math, Chemistry and writing curricula for organizations. As a student at Livingstone College, she worked with the Math department in re-writing the course catalog to ensure math courses offered were competitive with similar colleges and universities. Amber was a Peer Tutor at Livingstone where she helped develop Math workshops and classes for the Success Center. As an employee of Success Center, she tutored students in all levels of Math, Physics, Calculus Based Physics, Organic Chemistry, Spanish 1 and Freshman Comp 1 & 2. She volunteered in the community where she provided tutoring services for local elementary students struggling in Math, Reading and Science. Amber is an accomplished musician and athlete, which earned her scholarships throughout her college years. She was a member of the Marching and Concert band. She developed a Music Appreciation class for grades Pre-K- 5 where she taught students the piano and Introduction to Music. Additionally, she was a member of the softball and track and field team and she established a Dance Troupe that performed in local communities to help youth gain an appreciation and understanding that dance is more than movement; it's an art form.
As Director of Programs, Dr. Loftin will work to improve our current programs that support parents and community leaders and develop new programs designed to help students gain a greater appreciation for Music, Math and Science. She will also work to build partnerships with other non-profits where we share the same value and vision. In addition to guiding the day-to-day programming of NEVI's services, Amber also volunteers for Kiamsha Youth Empowerment Organization, where she conducts mentor training for adults seeking to become youth mentors and participating in workshops for youth; encouraging them to complete their primary and secondary education. Amber is a Kiamsha alumni; serving on the Steering Committee from 2003-2007.
Ms. Wingfield possesses an extensive background in workforce development and case management. She is highly committed and dedicated individual with a zest for bringing positive changes in people's lives, is seeking for a community outreach specialist position to provide health and education services to the community.
She is an accomplished fashion designer and the founder of Yvonne Fields Designs.
